Fall 2012: Rare Plants Surveyed on Coastal Plain Pond Shores

Pond water levels dropped along the coastal plain of Massachusetts this summer, creating ideal conditions for surveying the rare plant species unique to their shores. The Massachusetts Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program contracted Biodrawversity to locate and document rare plant populations at thirty ponds throughout Cape Cod. All of the sites were visited in late September, and our botanist surveyed about 50 rare plant populations.
