Spring 2012: Miles of Surveys!
Biodrawversity has been contracted to survey for a variety of taxa along an eight-mile stretch of a proposed highway extension in southern Connecticut. The project area includes a range of upland and wetland habitats, some of which may potentially harbor rare species. Our botanical team surveyed the entire eight miles for rare plants in the fall of 2011, finding a number of species known to be in the area and one Endangered species that was wholly unexpected. This year, we conducted additional botanical surveys to record species that are best detected earlier in the growing season. We will also be conducting surveys for rare wildlife including turtles, snakes, and rodents. |
