Winter 2012: Rare and Invasive Species at Greylock Glen
Biodrawversity has been working with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) since 2008 to document rare and invasive plant species at the 1,064-acre Greylock Glen property in Adams, MA. Our initial survey found 21 state-listed or watch-listed plant species on the property. Since then, we have worked closely with DCR and the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program to protect these rare plants. For example, we provided guidance during the development of an improved trail system throughout the property. Our efforts have also included mapping invasive species on the property, developing an invasive species management plan, and continued monitoring of invasive species control work on site.
